SPiCE 1-2-1

Personal Solution

Using the Personal Solution you can

  • Open a new assessment or
  • Open an existing Assessment
  • Select among the processes
  • Enter your ratings
  • Read the definitions and explanations
  • Evaluate your assessment ratings
  • Have a look at the charts and evaluations
  • Print the charts
  • Copy pictures (charts) to clipboard or save to disk to create your own assessment report
  • Copy data to clipboard or save to disk in SPiCE format to create your own charts, e.g. with Excel
  • Export function to send all data (including definitions, explanations etc.) to textfile or html format.

New in Version 2.0 (available since July 2009):

  • New: ISO 15504 - Part 7: enables the analysis of the "Organisational Maturity" - similar to the CMMISM
  • BoilerPlates: Predefined texts can be used for the assessor's notes (per drag & drop) - that saves time for the assessment!
  • Document List: intelligent linking and administration of references to documents (that are necessary for the assessment)
  • Suggestions for improvement of our customers were taken into account, for example: limitation of capability levels for charts, additional style template "ReportHeading 4" for MS Word reports, corrected spelling and formatting mistakes within the questionnaire, etc.

SPICE 1-2-1 contains those 48 processes defined by ISO/IEC IS 15504 regarding your software production:

SPiCE 1-2-1 Processes

More than 400 definitions and explanations cover software quality management and software engineering. The active and passive help system guides you through the questionnaire. You can make notes which will help you interpreting your results.

  • Menu "Assessment" – "Descriptions" and "Notes" were added. There you can set the font size for the standard text and also for the Notes

New in Version 1.2.1 (available since December 2006)

  • Drastically increased performance of generating word reports (if macros are enabled)
  • Additional process reports for the PowerPoint report generator added
  • Full Screen mode for the "Fill In" section

New in Version 1.3.2 (available since February 2007)

  • The "Fill in" section provides a Split Screen now
  • Shortcuts added to select next process (Ctrl + Arrow down) and previous process (Ctrl + Arrow up)
  • Generic work products added

New in Version 1.4.0 (available since July 2007)

  • "Include Legend for charts" added to the report options
  • The sorting of processes can now be done by drag & drop
  • You can set the CL for groups / categories now

New in Version 1.5.0 (available since July 2008)

  • Tool now supports multi language interface (german/english)
  • German report templates and german help file were added
  • Tool now supports multi language assessment files (see menu
    "Options - Language Settings")
  • Restructured menu due to usability
  • Additional option "Show acronyms in frequency distribution charts" in
    menu "Options - Appearance"
  • Toolbar for Notes can be switched from right-aligned to left-aligned
    under menu option “Assessment/Notes/Toolbar right-aligned”
  • UserValues can be formatted globally by style “ReportUserValue”
    in MS Word reports

New in Version 1.6.1 (available since March 2009)

  • Suggested Rating: Select "Rating with suggestion" in prepare screen to activate suggested rating
  • Merging of assessments is available now. See "Merge Assessments" in Help File of the tool for detailed information
  • Links may now be used in popup window
